Scroll down to read the personal introductions of the members of the Pre Congress Tour Committee!
My name is Jeroen Houwen, and I am the chairperson of the Pre Congress Tour Committee. This gives me the responsibility for the internal affairs in the committee and communication between the PCT and the Reception Committee. In collaboration with the other members of the committee we intend to organize an unforgettable Pre Congress Tour in 2018!
I am 23 years old and grew up in Bilthoven, a small village near Utrecht. I have an older brother and an older sister, who are both active in the healthcare sector. In 2013, I moved to Utrecht to study Pharmacy there. Utrecht is a nice city with a great university and a very active student life. This allows for an ideal combination of studying and spending time in the city with fellow students.
In February 2017, I started with the Master’s degree program in Pharmacy. I hope to graduate from my degree in February 2020.
Apart from my study, I like to sport and organize things. In 2015 I rowed in the Men’s Eight on a national level, representing the Utrecht student Rowing Club ORCA. In 2016 I organized the national congress of the Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (K.N.P.S.V.). In 2016 I ran my first marathon and I am planning on running a marathon again this year. Rowing and running really taught me to push through when things are getting tough.
I hope that this short introduction about myself gives you a clear picture of what I do and who I am. I am looking forward to giving you a very interesting Pre Congress Tour of the Netherlands in 2018. Thus, I would like you to invite you to join so we can meet in person and have an great time in the Netherlands!
My name is Maud Vromen and I am the secretary of the PCT committee 2018 held in the Netherlands. We organize this weekend for the enthusiastic people who want to see a little bit more of our beautiful and exciting country. My task is to keep track of all incoming and outgoing mail and you can contact me with all your questions about our upcoming weekend.
I grew up in Sittard, which is a city in the south of the country. At the age of 17 I moved to Utrecht to start the study Pharmacy at the university of Utrecht, and I am currently at the end of this bachelor. I am an active member of the local association U.P.S.V. where I have done several committees. In the last one I was secretary internal of the foreign excursion commission, which organised an educational trip to Sofia in Bulgaria. I am also a member of the students’ association C.S. Veritas where I spend a lot of my spare time with my friends.
I think I can speak for our committee when I say that we are looking forward to meet you all and together make an unforgettable weekend!
Hello! My name is Nicole Westendorp. I’m the treasurer of the PCT and I will keep track of all the incomes and expenses. I was born in Wierden, a small city close to Enschede and the German border. I lived there with my parents and my younger brother and sister. When I decided to start studying Pharmacy I moved to Groningen, which is a great city with lots of students living there. Right now, I’m in my third year of studying Pharmacy and I’m planning on finishing my Bachelor degree this summer.
As soon as I heard about this committee I got really excited. After graduating high school, I went on a long-term youth exchange. For exactly one year, I was living in the United States in three wonderful host families and repeating my senior year of high school there. It has been the best experience ever! Since I got back to the Netherlands, I already showed an American family and an Italian friend of mine part of our beautiful country and I can’t wait to show it to all of you as well!
Besides my studies, I play tennis in a students’ tennis club. In spring I play matches as well, which is a lot of fun. Also, I’m an active member in the local Pharmacy student association in Groningen. Two years ago my committee and I organized a weekend camping with fun activities and last year I was on the editorial board of our magazine.
Organizing this Pre Congress Tour is a lot of fun since everyone in the committee is very motivated. We are all really looking forward to the tour and can’t wait to show you part of our country. I sure hope to meet you and get to know you during our tour and hopefully you are as excited as I am. It will be great, see you there!
My name is Nienke Sikkes and I am one of the commissioners of the Pre Congress Tour Committee 2018. Together with the other two commissioners it’s our responsibility to book the accommodations, plan the trips and making sure the weekend will be everything you expect and more!
I grew up in Geleen. Geleen is a place in the south of the Netherlands, very close to the border of Germany and Belgium. A nice but small city. After I finished high school I wanted to see more of the world. So I went to Texas for an exchange year. It was great and this is one of the things that inspires me to make this weekend amazing! I also love showing exchange students how the Dutch people live, and get to do this yearly because my parents host students every year.
Currently I live and study in Utrecht. I study Pharmacy and I’m in my third year finishing my bachelor degree. Beside studying I really like to play tennis, spend time with friends and doing water sports.
I hope to see you in 2018 on the PCT! We will make sure you have the best time ever!
My name is Hanne Borgers and I am one of the commissioners of the Pre Congress Tour Committee 2018. As soon as I heard there was going to be an Pre Congress Tour before the EPSA Annual Congress in 2018 I was very excited. I got even more excited the moment I heard that I could be a part of the PCT Committee.
I grew up in a small place in the west of The Netherlands, Renkum. I moved to Utrecht in 2014 to explore a new city, a new world, and a new life. I loved studying Pharmacy from the very first day and I am still glad about the choice I made. Besides studying, I like sports. Most often I go skating, swimming or I go to the gym. I am a member of Unitas S.R., a students’ association in Utrecht, which is a lot of fun. The rest of my spare time I like to do things with my friends, travel around the world or cook (as long as someone else does the dishes).
In 2015 I helped organising a TWINNNET with Geneva, which was a great experience to meet new people. In 2016-2017 I took one year off my studies to be the Secretary General of the K.N.P.S.V. executive board. It was a great year with a lot of fun and I gained a lot of experience in communicating and working together with other people. I am really looking forward to organising this event together with the committee, to learn more about working together and make some unforgettable memories during our PCT.
